Kelsey Stenta was accepted into Broadway Dance Center's fall professional semester in NYC!  She was also accepted into Philadanco's apprentice modern dance company in PA but declined so she could spend her fall training in New York.   She is posting weekly updates about classes and activities while in NYC on her web blog:  http://straight2thepointe.blogspot.com/
Krystal Rajkowski was chosen from hundreds of applicants to dance in shows and parades in Disney's Magic Kingdom!  Prior to this, she was awarded an internship with Broadway Dance Center in NYC.
Abbie Worley was accepted into the Eastern University Dance Ministry Company in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. Abbie is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Dance. She also received an annual $15,000 Leadership Scholarship while attending EU.
Alison Duffy was awarded the title of “America’s National Teen" after winning the Maryland division of the Teen Miss America Pageant! She was also selected to fill one of the 15 spots available for the Kutztown University Dance Team out of the 50 girls who auditioned. The dance team performs at basketball games, lacrosse games, and other events on campus. Over the past few years they have also been the halftime entertainment at various 76ers games.
Ashly Hamilton accepted the position of choreographer for the Repertory Ensemble at Experimental Movement Concepts in PA.
Morgan Pearson has been accepted into the Salisbury Dance Company in Salisbury, Maryland.
Krista Jackson is a professional model with clothing company South Moon Under.
Dann Combs participated on the University of Maryland's Spirit Team "cheer"fully leading the teams to victory!
Kelly Martineau is attending Towson University and was accepted into the Towson Dance Company. She was selected to perform in a Bill T. Jones piece entitled “Continuous Replay”. Kelly was also awarded the $1,000 Cecil County Arts Council scholarship in 2008. She was selected to perform in NYC at the Young Choreographer's Festival along with other Towson Dance Company dancers.

Devin Miller is performing with the University of Maryland dance team and participated in Hagerstown’s Mummer’s Day Parade as well as dancing at all of the football games and during basketball’s “Maryland Madness”. Devin recently completed her end of year journalism project for her University of Maryland multimedia class using Cecil Danenter students.  You can view her project by visiting  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NthwEZJjBE .

Charlotte Moran was accepted in the Longhead Performance Institute in Philadelphia as a fall semester-away program! She also participated in UMBC’s senior dance pieces, musical theatre club and choreographed a show with the senior dance majors.
Velia Biagianti and Diana Gaul have been accepted into the Salisbury Dance Company in Salisbury, Maryland.
Mallory Underwood accepted a teaching position at the Medina Centre for Dance Art in Medina, Ohio and will be teaching ballet and tap classes. She is attending Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, where she is taking dance classes and pursuing a dance minor.  She was appointed to serve as the Student Director for her school's annual dance concert, in which she also choreographed a jazz piece and performed in three dance pieces.
Katie Brown has accepted a position as the assistant director for the Odd Act Theater Group, rehearsing Dr. Faustus by Christopher Marlow which will be performed this year in New Jersey.

2011 Graduates

AMBER BARRETT is a graduate of Elkton Christian Academy. She has been dancing for 11 years and has performed with CDT for six years. She has also received additional dance training with Gotta Dance. She has performed in Beauty and The Beast, The Lion King, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Spirit of Christmas, Snow White, A Holiday Enchantment and played the lead as Clara in The Nutcracker and as Odette in The Swan Princess. Amber has participated in the Maryland Dance Festivals, Cecil Dancenter’s Ballet Boot Camp and has performed at Cal Ripken Stadium. This past fall she attended the 2010 Maryland Dance Festival and received a scholarship to the Baltimore School of Dance. Amber will be attending Goldey Beacom College on full scholarship/grants majoring in Business & Hospitality Management.

ERIKA EDWARDS is a graduate of Rising Sun High School and has been dancing for 15 years at Cecil Dancenter. She performed four years as a member of CDT. Her performance credits include The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, The Spirit of Christmas, Snow White, A Holiday Enchantment, and The Swan Princess. She was previously a member of CJDT, where she performed in their productions of Sleeping Beauty, Alice In Wonderland, Coppelia, and Pinocchio. Erika has received training at the 2007 and 2008 Maryland Dance Festivals and performed in the televised 2007 Boscov’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She won a national scholarship from FFA and was one of the 100 winners chosen out of over a thousand applicants. Erika will be attending the University of Delaware, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources majoring in Agriculture Education with a double minor in Agri-Business and Animal Science. She has received the Monsanto Commitment to Agriculture, the American Legion scholarship, the American Legion Auxiliary scholarship, the Williams Family Auto Mall scholarship, the Ray Mueller Cecil County Farm Bureau scholarship, the Rising Sun Alumni Association scholarship, and a scholarship from Zion United Methodist Church. She received a Service Star Award for over 1000 hours of community service.

KAITLYN GLENN is a graduate of Rising Sun High School and has been training in dance for 14 years. She attended Goucher College’s Summer Art Institute Program for two summers and attended Point Park University’s International Summer Dance Program. She has attended the MD Dance Festival where she was awarded scholarships to attend the Essex World Dance Festival, a Dance Educators of America workshop and the New York City Dance Alliance Convention. This year, she placed third highest in the 16-22 age group and received a monetary award as well as a scholarship to attend Point Park University’s International Summer Dance Program. Kaitlyn has been accepted into the BFA in Dance at Towson University. Past CDT performances include: The Spirit of Christmas, Beauty and the Beast, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Nutcracker: Clara’s Tale, as Alice in Alice in Wonderland and The Swan Princess.

KAITLYN KRETCHMER is a graduate of Rising Sun High School and has been a member of CDT for four years, most recently appearing in The Swan Princess. She has been a dancer for 14 years, 10 of which have been with Cecil Dancenter. She was a member of CJDT for 3 years where she performed in several shows, including Pinocchio, in which she received the lead role as Pinocchio. Kaitlyn also participated in the North East Parade and Maryland Dance Festival. She plans on attending Towson University next year to major in Athletic Training.

BROOKE TRUITT is a graduate of St. Mark’s High School. She has been dancing for 14 years at Cecil Dancenter and has been a member of CDT for eight years. She has danced in A Holiday Enchantment, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Spirit of Christmas, Aladdin, The Lion King, Cinderella, The Nutcracker: Clara’s Tale. She has attended the Maryland Dance Festival for four years where she was awarded a scholarship to attend the New York City Dance Alliance. Brooke has also performed at Cal Ripken Stadium and at Conowingo Elementary’s Multi-Cultural Day. She will be attending Liberty University and received an academic scholarship. She will be studying Elementary Education with a concentration in English. Brooke will continue dance through a local studio in Virginia that has a performing company.

HEATHER SEXTON is a graduate of North East High School. She danced at Cecil Dancenter for 13 years and was as a member of CDT. She performed in CDT’s 2007 production of The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and The Nutcracker: Clara’s Tale. Prior to joining CDT, she danced for three years with CJDT, appearing in their productions of Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Coppelia, and Pinocchio.

ABBIE WORLEY is a graduate of Elkton Christian Academy. She has been dancing for 12 years and has been a CDT member for eight years. Abbie has received additional training at the Maryland Dance Festival and won a scholarship to Kinetics Dance Theater in Ellicott City, Maryland as well as a scholarship to attend the 2011 Festival. She has performed in Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, The Spirit of Christmas, Snow White, The Nutcracker: Clara’s Tale and Alice in Wonderland.

2010 Graduates

Morgan Pearson is a graduate of Bohemia Manor High School. She has received training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and hip-hop for nine years and has performed with CDT for seven years.  Morgan has participated in the Maryland Dance Festival for the past four years and has won scholarships for classes at White Marsh Ballet Academy and a National three-day Workshop in Orlando, Florida through Dance Educators of America. She has performed at the Maryland Dance Festival, Cal Ripken Stadium, the North East Christmas Parade, several area nursing homes, and Multi-Cultural Days at Conowingo Elementary School. Previous CDT performances include roles in Aladdin, The Lion King, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker.  She also performed as a soloist in “Santa Baby” in the 2008 performance of The Spirit of Christmas and as the Evil Queen in the 2009 spring performance of Snow White.  Most recently, she held several roles in the 2009 holiday production of The Nutcracker: Clara’s Tale and was the Queen of Hearts in the 2010 spring production of Alice in Wonderland. Morgan is attending Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD and studying elementary education.

Megan Breza is a graduate of Elkton High School.  Megan has 11 years of dance training and has performed in various productions with the Delaware Dance Company including several performances and multiple roles in The Nutcracker.  She also had five years of training in figure skating with Russian Silver Olympic medalist Oleg Oviannikov.  Megan participated in several skating competitions but her love of dance brought her back to continue her dance training at Cecil Dancenter.  She has performed in the CDT productions of The Nutcracker: Clara’s Tale as a solider and arabian and various roles in the spring 2010 performance of Alice in Wonderland including the Duchess. Megan is attending Cecil College and is continuing her dance training through Cecil Dancenter and Cecil Dance Theatre.

2009 Graduates

Alison Duffy, a graduate of Bohemia Manor High School, has trained with various instructors for the past 14 years and has been a member of Cecil Dance Theatre, our non-profit performing company, for the past seven years. Alison has received training at the Maryland Dance Festival for the past four years and recently won a scholarship for a one-week summer dance intensive at Kinetics Dance Theatre. She has performed in the 2007 Boscov’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and at Cal Ripken Stadium. Alison is attending Kutztown University and majoring in Elementary Education.

Kelsey Stenta is a graduate of Rising Sun High School. She has been training in dance for 12 years and has been a Cecil Dance Theatre, our non-profit performing company, member for eight years. She has received additional training at the Upper Chesapeake Center for the Arts, MD Youth Ballet, the MD Dance Festival, and Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. She has performed at the DE Dance Festival, the Mrs. Maryland/Delaware Pageant, and the Cal Ripken Stadium. Kelsey has received scholarships from the Maryland Dance Festival each time she has participated and her 2008 awards included a full scholarship to attend the Point Park University Summer Program for a third year, a cash award for first place in her age group and the George & Wally Dashiell Scholarship cash award for highest overall score in all age groups. Kelsey was accepted and offered a $12,000 scholarship to attend Towson University to pursue a BFA degree in Dance Performance & Education. She also was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Cecil County Arts Council.
