Musical Theatre classes cover vocal training, theater dance, acting technique, & improvisational exercises. Students will put their skills together to create an entertaining year-end show. While working on the production, not only will your child be acquiring skills in dancing, acting, and singing, but they will be a part of the creative process. Join our musical theatre classes and become a triple threat!
Musical Theatre students will offer their performance as part of the staged recitals at Elkton High School and will have multiple opportunities to showcase their program!
Our Musical Theatre Program
According to Wikipedia musical theatre is defined as "a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical – humor, pathos, love, anger – are communicated through the words, music, movement, and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole". At Cecil Dancenter, we feel that this performance style is unique and offers something for everyone to enjoy.
In addition to acquiring skills in dancing, acting, and singing we also have our students be a part of the creative process. They help to write the dialogue, develop the characters, plot lines, and parody lyrics to some of the songs as well as provide input into the choreography. These shows are truly original productions in which the students should be proud to participate!
